To honor Papua New Guinea’s rich multicultural heritage and share the nation’s development journey with the world, the PNG Government will host a grand float parade on May 16, 2025, officially launching the two-month-long national celebration themed “Our Journey.”
The celebration will revolve around the slogan “WE WORK! WE INSPIRE! WE CELEBRATE!”, highlighting “The PNG Story through an Asia-Pacific Lens.” It aims to tell the unique national journey shaped by over a thousand tribes and 860 languages, while also embracing connections with neighboring countries and the global community.
According to the event organizers, this celebration is not only a reflection on PNG’s history since independence, but also a powerful opportunity to unite the nation and inspire a shared vision for the future.
The public is encouraged to actively participate in various ways — by telling, sharing, and celebrating the collective story that defines Papua New Guinea.
