Digicel Papua New Guinea Ltd has announced that it will commence a billing system upgrade in the early hours of Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The company stated that the upgrade aims to enhance service quality and streamline internal operations.
According to the schedule, the system transition will begin at 12:05 AM on the day. During this period, customers may experience intermittent disruptions to several services, including:
- Mobile communication services
- Fixed voice services (SIP, PRI, and toll-free lines)
- Vehicle tracking services
- EFTPOS and ATM services
- Mobile data, USSD, self-service SMS, and international roaming services
Although the company has not specified the duration of the service interruption, it assured that technical teams will work diligently to minimize downtime and ensure a smooth transition.
In addition, Digicel has announced a temporary adjustment to its mobile billing schedule for the period from July to September 2025. Customers will receive three bills in phases over a 65-day period:
- July bill: Issued on July 25, with payment due by August 21 (standard 27-day billing cycle)
- August bill: To be issued mid-August, with an extended payment period until mid-October (60-day cycle)
- September bill: Issued on September 1, with payment due by September 27 (returning to the standard billing cycle)
The company has emphasized that no service suspensions due to non-payment of the August bill will occur before the end of October. Customers requiring assistance with payment arrangements are encouraged to proactively contact their account management and collections teams.
