On August 12, Chairman Lin Huanong of the China–Papua New Guinea Friendship Association visited the Guangdong Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (GFROC) at the invitation of the federation and held talks with Li Feng, Party Secretary and Chairman of GFROC.
During the meeting, Chairman Li Feng warmly welcomed Chairman Lin’s visit and gave a brief introduction to the federation’s work in connecting with overseas Chinese communities and promoting people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries. He noted that Guangdong, as a major province for overseas Chinese affairs, maintains close ties with Chinese communities around the world and hopes to deepen communication to better understand and support the development of Chinese nationals in Papua New Guinea.
Chairman Li showed particular concern for the living conditions, cultural heritage, and public security situation of the Chinese community in PNG. Drawing on his long-term work and life experience in the country, Chairman Lin provided a detailed overview of the distribution, business sectors, and community organizations of Chinese nationals in PNG, as well as their active contributions to promoting bilateral trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people links between China and PNG. He also candidly described the realities of local public security and cultural integration, the challenges faced by the Chinese community, and offered suggestions for strengthening community self-protection and improving communication and cooperation with local society.

Both sides agreed that further enhancing people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and PNG would help foster mutual understanding and trust, advancing bilateral relations to a higher level. The Guangdong Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese expressed its commitment to continuing to pay attention to and support the needs of the Chinese community in PNG, while exploring more avenues for cooperation to promote exchanges and mutual assistance between the two communities.
This meeting provided a new opportunity to build closer ties between the Chinese communities in China and Papua New Guinea and to promote the healthy development of overseas Chinese organizations.
