On the afternoon of June 20, 2025, H.E. Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian, Ambassador of the Philippines to Papua New Guinea, warmly received Mr. Lin Huanong, President of the China–Papua New Guinea Friendship Association, and Mr. Anderson Ting, General Manager of Vision City, at the Philippine Ambassador’s Residence in Port Moresby.
The meeting, held at the ambassador’s cordial invitation, underscored the Philippine Embassy’s high regard for the Chinese community and civil exchanges. It also served as strong recognition of President Lin’s long-standing efforts in promoting people-to-people ties among China, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines, as well as his contributions to Chinese community affairs and cultural cooperation.
Ambassador Auxilian noted that Sinowell, as a company of significant influence in Papua New Guinea, has long employed a large number of Filipino workers and made positive contributions to local economic development and China–Philippines people-to-people cooperation. He added that President Lin, representing the company, is also a leading figure in the local Chinese business community and plays an essential role in fostering multilateral cultural exchanges.
Held in a relaxed and cordial atmosphere, the meeting saw in-depth discussions on topics such as “jointly addressing challenges,” “exchange of cultural values,” and “expanding trade and business cooperation opportunities.”
Ambassador Auxilian emphasized that the Philippines and China share broad common interests in the Pacific region, and that deepening engagement with the Chinese community contributes positively to regional peace and prosperity.
He highly commended the China–PNG Friendship Association for its efforts in promoting cultural understanding and community cooperation among China, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines, and expressed his appreciation for President Lin’s many years of dedication to public affairs.
President Lin expressed his gratitude to the ambassador for the warm reception and reaffirmed that the Friendship Association remains committed to fostering mutual understanding and inclusiveness among diverse cultures. He voiced a willingness to deepen collaboration with the Philippine Embassy and the Chinese and Filipino diaspora in areas such as cultural exchange, youth development, and educational cooperation, with the aim of making greater contributions to the development of local communities.
Though President Lin jokingly remarked that he had “missed the ambassador’s wife’s famous handmade coffee,” the genuine and friendly atmosphere, along with the productive discussions, made the meeting highly meaningful and fruitful.
Mr. Anderson Ting described the exchange as “filled with laughter, warmth, and vision,” fully reflecting the Philippine side’s openness and sincere commitment to cooperation.
This meeting is also regarded as an important step in deepening ties between the China–Papua New Guinea Friendship Association and the Philippine Embassy in PNG. Looking ahead, both parties will continue to strengthen collaboration and jointly promote cross-cultural understanding and regional peace and cooperation.
