A significant step forward for the transport sector!
The delegation of powers for vehicle registration, licensing, and safety stickers has officially been returned to the Road Traffic Authority (RTA). This move allows RTA to resume full control of these regulatory functions within the National Capital District (NCD), while Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL) will now focus solely on Third Party Insurance services.
Please note: For other provinces across Papua New Guinea, MVIL will continue to manage registration, licensing, and number plate issuance until further notice. This signing ceremony marks a milestone specific to the NCD.
Under the renewed leadership of Mr. John Daveona Avira, Acting CEO of RTA, and his dedicated team, RTA is gaining new momentum. In just a short span, positive changes are beginning to emerge—signaling a brighter and more efficient future for transport regulation in the country.
A new horizon begins—restoring trust, systems, and service delivery.
