In a heartfelt demonstration of people-to-people friendship between China and Papua New Guinea and the Chinese tradition of mutual support, the Lae Chapter of the China–Papua New Guinea Friendship Association (also known as the PNG Chinese Assistance Center) partnered with the 14th Chinese Medical Team to Papua New Guinea to carry out a meaningful charitable visit and free clinic for the disabled on April 12.

Organized and led by Mr. He Ye, President of the Lae Chapter of the Friendship Association, the leadership team — including Lin Duanhan, Wang Yuchun, Wang Jianqing, and Lin Zengjian — joined hands with the medical team to deliver carefully prepared relief supplies to the Morobe Provincial Disabled Persons Association and other individuals in need. The donations included rice, cooking oil, noodles, biscuits, and drinking water, which were handed over in person — a gesture that exemplified the deep care and selfless support of the Chinese community for vulnerable groups under the leadership of President He.
At the same time, the 14th Chinese Medical Team, led by Team Leader Dr. Chen Zijun, set up a temporary medical station to provide free consultations, blood pressure checks, and advice on the prevention and management of common illnesses. Overcoming language barriers, the medical team won widespread praise from the local community with their meticulous service and professional care. Many patients expressed their gratitude with warm smiles and thumbs up.
The head of the Disabled Persons Association delivered a speech expressing sincere thanks to both the Friendship Association (and Chinese Assistance Center) and the Chinese Medical Team. He highly commended the Chinese community’s ongoing care and selfless contributions to Lae’s disadvantaged groups, saying that this transnational goodwill felt like a ray of sunshine, warming the hearts of countless families.

President He Ye of the Lae Chapter of the China–PNG Friendship Association stated that the association has long adhered to the principle of “serving as a bridge for overseas Chinese and caring for the local community,” actively integrating into Papua New Guinean society, participating in charitable causes, and promoting grassroots exchanges between China and PNG. He described the visit to the Disabled Persons Association not only as an act of kindness but also as a civil diplomacy effort that fosters inclusion and compassion.

This activity not only helped alleviate the daily and medical challenges of the disabled community in Lae but also further strengthened mutual understanding and emotional bonds between the people of China and Papua New Guinea. Looking ahead, the China–PNG Friendship Association (PNG Chinese Assistance Center) will continue to unite the Chinese community in PNG and collaborate with more volunteers to contribute to social development and the deepening of people-to-people ties between the two nations.
