Ramu NiCo, a subsidiary of MCC located in Madang Province, recently donated a batch of medical supplies to the Bugalim Community Health Post, reaffirming the company’s ongoing commitment to community development.
The donation was officially made on Thursday, May 1, 2025, fulfilling a promise made by Ramu NiCo Landowner Association (LOA) Chairman Steven Saud during the health post’s inauguration ceremony last year.
Chairman Saud reiterated the association’s dedication to improving the well-being of the community.
He noted that the association has successfully implemented 25 projects along the Ramu NiCo coastal pipeline corridor, spanning from Mano to Gawar.
“Our goal is to support and enhance the health and welfare of our people, and these projects are concrete manifestations of that commitment,” said Saud.
Ramu NiCo’s Community Affairs Manager, Eric Kuman, praised Chairman Saud for his people-centered leadership and highlighted the importance of community-oriented initiatives.
“We need leaders who truly prioritize the needs of the community. Effective leadership ensures that our people—especially in critical areas such as health—receive the services they deserve,” Kuman stated.
The donation was warmly welcomed by students from Bugalim Primary and Junior High School, local residents, and community leaders.
Speaking on behalf of the women in the community, Yarina Yangur expressed her gratitude and shared the challenges many mothers face in searching for medicine for their children across different aid posts.
“This donation is a great help for us women, especially for mothers who have to travel far and wide just to find medication for their children,” she said.
Community leader Steven Kodo emphasized the importance of the health post for local youth, particularly students at Bugalim Primary and Junior High School.
“Our students are the biggest beneficiaries of this facility. Access to timely medical care is vital for their health and their future,” Kodo said.
The provision of medical supplies by Ramu NiCo and its Landowner Association once again demonstrates the mining company’s sustained efforts to support health and development in communities along its coastal pipeline area.
Local community members expressed appreciation for the initiative and voiced their hope that future improvements will include the construction of a staff house for health workers, which would further enhance the service capacity of the health post.
